The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) says it has referred the Nigerian National Anti-Doping Agency (NADO) to the Court of arbitration for Sport (CAS) over alleged non compliance of their anti-doping agency with WADA rules.

WADA said it filed “two separate requests for arbitration with the Court of Arbitration for Sport” for the two cases on February 9, 2024.

Also referred to CAS alongside Nigeria is Venezuela, which WADA said has not addressed a number of critical requirements that came from the Code of Compliance Questionnaire exercise.

“Accordingly, and in line with Article 24.1.7 of the Code, WADA now publicly announces that it filed the two separate requests for arbitration with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on 9 February 2024”, WADA wrote on their website .

The allegations of non-compliance and the consequences would not take effect until such time as CAS makes its ruling.
