Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has received the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on a condolence visit over the demise of former Governor of Yobe State, Sen Bukar Abba Ibrahim.

Sen Ibrahim died last Saturday in Saudi Arabia after a brief illness. During the visit, Governor Yahaya and the Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum described the late Bukar Abba Ibrahim who was the first civilian Governor of Yobe State, as a seasoned politician who contributed greatly to the development of the State and the country.

Governor Yahaya had earlier in a statement, on behalf of the 19 Northern Governors, extended heartfelt condolences to Governor Mai Mala Buni, the Government and people of Yobe State, as well as the family and associates of the late elder statesman.

Governor Yahaya expressed his deepest sympathy over the loss of the man he described as a father to the entire Yobe community. He then commiserated with the people of Yobe State and the family of the deceased and prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Senator.

“As you can see, this is the Gombe State government delegation led by my humble self to identify with you on this sad moment of mourning a statesman who devoted his entire life to serving the people and humanity. the news of the demise of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim came as a profound shock and a great loss to the us,” he stated.

On his part, Governor Buni, while receiving the Gombe State Governor and other members of his entourage at the Government House in Damaturu, expressed his appreciation for the condolence visit, describing it as a true reflection of the existing cordial relationship between Yobe and the Gombe States.

He thanked Governor Yahaya for his show of solidarity and support during the difficult time and pledged that the people of Yobe State will always remember the kindness extended to them. He stated that the death of Sen. Bukar Abba Ibrahim is a big loss to the people of Yobe State and Nigeria as a whole, adding that the former governor served the people with distinction during his tenure in office, and his contributions to the development of the state will always be remembered.
