Governor Caleb Mutfwang has sacked the Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University, Bokkos, Prof Bernard Matur Malau.

The governor also fired the Provost of Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi, Dr John Dawam, and his counterparts in College of Education, Gindiri, Dr. Emmanuel Jurte; College of Health Technology, Zawan, Dr (Mrs) Fona Dasugyit; and College of Health Technology, Pankshin. Dr Francis Isah Fwangje

A statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Samuel Jatau, which did not give reasons for their sack, said that their sack was with immediate effect.

The statement said that in addition the governor has also approved the cancellation of recruitments earlier conducted by tertiary institutions in October 2022 and early 2023 that had been earlier suspended.

It said that all subsequent recruitment shall be by an all-inclusive recruitment for all tertiary institutions, which would be advertised.

The governor directed all those concerned to hand over any government property to the most senior officer in their establishments.

He thanked them for their services to the state while wishing them success in their future endeavours

The statement read in part “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau state, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang has approved the dissolution of the Governing Council of the Plateau State University, Bokkos with immediate effect. Similarly, the governor has also approved the removal of the following heads of tertiary institutions: Plateau State University, Bokkos; Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin Ladi; College of Education, Gindiri; College of Health Technology, Zawan and College of Health Technology, Pankshin”.

“The governor has also approved the cancellation of recruitment earlier conducted by tertiary institutions in 2022 and early 2023 that have been under suspension.

“Consequently, applications for an all-inclusive recruitment for all tertiary institutions would be advertised.”
