A Member of the House of Representatives representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency of Bayelsa State, Rodney Ambaiowei, has reiterated his commitment to proffering legislative solutions to issues affecting his constituency.

Ambaiowei said in a statement that in the new year he would sponsor bills for the establishment of educational institutions and other developmental projects in his constituency. He also promised to sponsor bills that would enable the area harness its potentials in crude oil production, as well as tourism.

The lawmaker noted that his priority is placing the concerns of his constituents on the front burner of national discourse, with a view to addressing them.

He stated contrary to believe in certain quarters, the National Assembly is not an avenue for accumulating wealth. According to him, the responsibility of a lawmaker revolves around quality representation, lawmaking and the exercise of oversight duties to ensure good governance.

Furthermore, the lawmaker, expressed concern that his constituents, who rely on the water ways for transportation, are not captured in government’s plan to provide electric buses or Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses as palliatives to commuters. He vowed to bring the issue before the parliament, when the House reconvenes later in the month.

Ambaiowei, while urging support for Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri, implored the Ijaws to unite under organisations such as the Ijaw National Congress and the Ijaw Youth Council, as unity is crucial to the the advancement of the Ijaw nation.
