- As CORBON inducts 420 fellows

Governors of Ebonyi and Plateau States, Francis Nwufiri and Caleb Mutfwang, have frowned at the proliferation of quack builders.
The governors, who spoke at the 23rd induction of 420 builders by the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON), yesterday in Abuja, said unqualified persons were soiling the image of the profession which is evident in incessant building cracks and collapse.
Nwifiru was represented by his Deputy, Princess Patricia Obela, Mutfwang was represented by his Commissioner for Works, Bulus Lekshak.
Also, CORBON Chairman, Samson Ameh Opaluwah, charged the inducted fellows to be industrious and justify their membership by being professionals.
He said: “My dear Inductees, as you join this prestigious community of professionals, I congratulate each and every one of you on this momentous achievement.
“Your presence here today signals not only your individual success but also your commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism in the construction industry.
“The theme that resonates profoundly with us today is the imperative for professionalism as well as a dedication to the principles that underpinning safe and sustainable construction, the construction industry is not merely about erecting structures, it is about building the foundations of a safet, resilient, and prosperous society.
“As Registered Builders, you are entrusted with a responsibility that goes beyond flocks and mortar-you are also the guardians of polshe safety in buildings.
“Consequently, I implore each me of you to approach your work with diligence, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to excellence in your practice of the profession.
“It is useful to note that at the time you are being inducted into the profession, a dedicate committee of seasoned professionals is diligently working to review and refine de Builder’s practice instruments.
“This initiative is aimed at aligning our practices with global best practices and standards, fostering innovation, and positioning the Registered milders as a player towards meeting the global skills requirement.”
