A good number of African film practitioners will be recognised and honoured for their works at the 19th edition of Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), which holds today, Sunday October 29 at Balmoral Convention Centre, Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

Already, four music stars have been penciled to perform at the award ceremony. They include KCee, Yinka Davies, Camido and Zadok.

According to the AMAA Technical Head, Kingsley James, the musicians will thrill guests from not only Africa, but also those attending from different parts of the world.

Speaking on the preparedness of the organisers, James said everything has been put in place to ensure a successful awards. “The legacy of Peace Anyiam-Osigwe lives on in our hearts, hence our determination to deliver this year an experience reminiscent of her presence.”

On his part, AMAA Chief Operating Officer, Tony Anih, stated that the trio of Nancy Isime, Rahama Sadau and Richard Ato Turkson will host the show, while popular actor, Jimmy Jean-Louis will be a special guest of honour.

Meanwhile, Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, a board member of AFA, owners of AMAA, has vowed to make sure that the award ceremony surpasses attendees and industry practitioners’ expectations.

“It’s been a long time coming for AMAA and the 19th edition is special and dear to us as members of the family. We would be honouring our beloved sister, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, who was passionate about AMAA, the industry and Africa till her death. We would also give a tip of what is to be expected at the 20th edition of the awards billed for next year.”
