From Okey Sampson, Umuahia
The lawmaker representing Aba Central State Constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Ucheonye Akachukwu has decried the state of infrastructural decadence in the state, particularly in his constituency and expressed hope Gov Alex Otti would change the narrative.
This is even as traders at the Ngwa Road Market (Ahia Ohuru), Aba have vowed to give their unflinching support to ensure the success of the Otti’s administration.
Addressing his constituents in Aba, Hon Akachukwu said during the electioneering, he traversed the length and breadth of Aba Central and gathered first-hand information on the problems of each area.
The lawmaker promised to, in collaboration with his colleagues in the House, make laws that will help the executive in addressing some of the identified problems.
He expressed joy over the special status Otti has accorded Aba in his development agenda, assuring this will in no small way help in addressing the perceived infrastructural deficiency in the city.
Akachukwu promised youths of the area that he would work closely with the relevant authorities in the state to ensure they are economically empowered.
Meanwhile, traders at the Ngwa Road Market (Ahia Ohuru), Aba have vowed to support the Otti’s administration to succeed.
The coordinator of Men of Goodwill/Labour Party in the market, Ndubuisi Ejiagba Nendes who made the vow at the event, said Otti’s government remained the best thing to have happened to the traders in recent times.
Nendes commended the governor over his efforts so far in sanitizing the markets by stopping the numerous illegal levies traders were forced to pay previously.
Nendes particularly lauded Otti for withdrawing the list of executives of leaders of the various markets in Aba and Umuahia Government recently published over some perceived anomalies.
The group’s coordinator said by so doing, Otti has not only shown he is not only a governor with listening ears, but one that has come to right the wrongs of the past.
He urged the governor to be wary of sycophants when compiling a fresh list to ensure people were appointed on merit.
