Senate President, National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), Comrade Tayo Olabode, has expressed gratitude to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun for his role in the emergence of Senator Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) as 2027 consensus gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
In a Wednesday statement sent to SunOnline, Olabode said the Ogun governor granted his request with Senator Adeola’s emergence.
Olabode recalled that during his tenure as the President of the National Association of Yewa Students (NAYES) in 2025, he made a passionate appeal to the governor, urging that the gubernatorial ticket be given to an indigene of Ogun West senatorial district, a region that has not produced a governor in over five decades since the creation of the state.
This appeal, he stated, was made during the commissioning of a road project in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area.
In that appeal, he stated: “Your Excellency, I sincerely appreciate your developmental strides across the state. However, I humbly request that your successor emerges from Ogun West Senatorial District, a zone that has long awaited this opportunity.”
Following the Governor Abiodun’s recent decision to support a candidate from Ogun West, the NAOSS Senate President expressed profound gratitude to him for honoring this request and for demonstrating inclusive and visionary leadership.
Olabode further congratulated the chosen candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, describing his emergence as well-deserved.
According to him, Senator Adeola’s credible experience, proven track record, and unwavering resilience over the years have distinguished him as a capable and worthy leader.
He emphasized that there is no doubt in his capacity to deliver effective governance and further advance the development of Ogun State.
Furthermore, Olabode assured the senator that the entire student constituency, under his leadership, is prepared to mobilize, strategize, and actively support his aspirations, ensuring widespread student engagement and full backing.
