Kano State Police Command has arrested 224 suspects for major crimes committed across the state in the past one month.
Briefing journalists on Monday, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bukar, said the arrests were made possible by the following a.kidnap community engagements and intelligence-led operations.
According to him, the suspects include thieves, kidnappers, bandits, gunrunners and 177 suspected thugs arrested at various flashpoints.
He disclosed that the command also recovered six motor vehicles, four tricycles, seven motorcycles including three pistols and 65 rounds of ammunition linked to gunrunning activities.
On narcotics, Bukari listed the seizures to include 5 cartons and 17,070 sachets of Tramadol; 3 cartons, 18 packs, and 49 sachets of Diazepam ; 90 sachets of Pregabalin, 210 packets of Exol-5 , 619 wraps of cannabis and quantities of crystal methamphetamine (ice)
The Commissioner said the arrests and recoveries have together led to reduction in crimes and sustained peace in major parts of the metropolis.
He commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for providing an enabling environment for the police, and thanked residents for their cooperation, trust, and timely intelligence.
