Everton have submitted a reported £35 million bid for United States striker Folarin Balogun as they seek to strengthen their attack before Tuesday’s Premier League transfer deadline.
ESPN reports that Everton’s offer for the Monaco forward is worth about $47.5 million, although BBC Sport says Monaco value the 25-year-old at £40 million.
Balogun has emerged as a major target for Everton following his impressive showing at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored three goals for the United States.
His tournament, however, ended amid controversy after he was sent off for serious foul play during the United States’ last-32 clash against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
FIFA’s disciplinary committee later suspended his ban for a year, allowing him to feature in the United States’ last-16 defeat by Belgium.
The decision drew criticism, with UEFA describing it as “unprecedented, incomprehensible and unjustifiable”. FIFA president Gianni Infantino denied influencing the disciplinary process.
Balogun, who is of Nigerian descent, joined Monaco from Arsenal in 2023. He has scored 31 goals in 91 appearances for the French club.
Everton are looking for additional attacking options after Beto moved closer to a reported £15 million transfer to Fiorentina. The club is also considering Tottenham forward Richarlison before making their move for Balogun.
Balogun finished last season strongly, scoring 11 goals in his final 14 matches, including a Champions League brace against Paris Saint-Germain.
Everton must now determine whether to improve their offer or meet Monaco’s £40 million valuation as they race to complete the deal before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
