Labour Party (LP) has vowed to resist rigging in next year’s general election.
The party said no candidate in the election would allow himself or herself to be rigged out so that the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government could continue to enslave Nigerians.
Chairman of the Labour Party in Ebonyi State, Chief Henry Udeh stated this in Abakaliki, the state capital, during the primaries of the party at the weekend.
He said the party was fully prepared to wrestle power from the APC and save Nigerians from untold hardship.
“We are fully prepared for next year’s general election. From what happened today, one can see that we are a grassroots based political party, that people are not happy with the present administration.
“We buy from the same market across the country, the situation is critical already. So, we are fully prepared and the Labour Party is a grassroots party.
“We will do our campaign vigorously and aggressively too and we will go to the field because people want change. Every single individual wants change and that change will happen in 2027 .
“It is just for us to cast our votes and when you vote, you stand there and ensure the vote is counted. Nobody will allow himself to be rigged out, to apply the old system of the old brigade so that they can continue to enslave each and every one of us.
“We have to say no to bad governance. We have to be firm in resisting the evil that we are suffering today in the country,” Udeh stated.
He described the primaries of the party as transparent and democratic and urged party supporters to remain committed and ensure that their votes count during the elections.
Also speaking, the party’s governorship candidate, Splendor Oko Eze, expressed gratitude to party delegates for the confidence reposed in him.
He said his emergence was a call to service and an opportunity to pursue his vision of transforming Ebonyi State through industrialisation and economic recovery.
He said job creation would be one of his top priorities if elected governor, noting that many graduates and skilled youths in the state remain unemployed despite their qualifications.
He pledged to attract investments, establish industries and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Party primaries saw the emergence of Chief Eze as the governorship candidate, while the state chairman of the party, Chief Henry Chima Ude, emerged as the candidate for Ebonyi South senatorial zone.
