Members of Course 48 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies ( NIPPS), Kuru, Jos, has lauded the management of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero (AFUSTA) for its various initiatives to boost economic diversification and entrepreneurship.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the University, Mr. Mustapha Mansur Ango, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital.
Ango stated that the NIPPS Course 48 Team led by Mr Nima Salman, a lawyer, made the commendation during their local tour to the University and noted that the institution’s frameworks are good models for the nation’s economic diversification.
He disclosed that the team leader explained that their study tour was aimed at gaining practical insights into the institutional frameworks, research initiatives and policy options relevant to entrepreneurship, economic diversification and national development.
Salman stressed the importance of developing sound policies that would harness Nigeria’s enormous creative, entrepreneurial and innovative potential, noting that the country’s economic transformation required diversification beyond traditional sources of revenue.
“Nima commended AFUSTA for the quality of its presentations and the depth of the intellectual engagement. She expressed the delegation’s appreciation to the University Management for the warm reception and described AFUSTA as a reliable centre of learning and academic excellence.

“She further acknowledged the important role the University could play in advancing research, innovation, entrepreneurship and national development”.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Ismaila Mungadi, described their visit as an important opportunity for intellectual engagement, knowledge sharing and policy dialogue.
The Vice-Chancellor explained that the institution bears the name of Sheikh Abdullahi ibn Fodio, a renowned Islamic scholar and intellectual, whose legacy continues to inspire scholarship, knowledge and service to humanity.
Mungadi noted that the theme of the interactive session, “Economic Diversification and National Development: Leveraging the Orange Economy and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Growth in Nigeria,” was timely and relevant to Nigeria’s quest for economic transformation.
He emphasized the critical role of universities in promoting economic diversification through research, innovation, entrepreneurship, technology transfer and human capital development.
The interactive session featured presentations on the following topics: “AFUSTA as a Catalyst for Economic Diversification, Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development,” presented by Dr. Aminu Rabiu Koko, Director, Academic Planning. “Onion Production in Kebbi State: Challenges and Prospects,” presented by Professor Adamu Muhammad, Department of Crop Science.
Other presentations include; “Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development in Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero,” presented by Dr. Muhammad M. Khakiko, University Librarian as well as “AFUSTA’s Contribution to Economic Diversification through Science, Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” presented by Professor Ismaila Arzika Mungadi, the Ag. Vice-Chancellor.
Mansur said that the presentations generated extensive discussions on the prospects of the Orange Economy, entrepreneurship, agriculture, information services, science and technology, innovation and other areas capable of contributing to employment generation, value addition and sustainable economic growth.
