The National Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Ikenna Enekweizu, has insisted that the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will appear on the ballot for the 2027 general election despite the ongoing legal battle over the party’s registration.
Enekweizu expressed confidence that the NDC would overcome its current challenges and emerge victorious at the polls, maintaining that the legal issues surrounding the party would not stop its participation in the election.
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Tv Politics Today, the NDC chieftain said the party remained focused on its mission and was certain its candidates would contest the 2027 elections.
“Our candidates will be on the ballots come 2027, and we will win the elections,” Enekweizu declared.

He reaffirmed that Peter Obi remains the party’s presidential flag bearer, dismissing speculation that the legal tussle over the NDC’s registration could derail his ambition.
According to him, some political actors are working to prevent Obi from contesting because they believe they cannot defeat him at the polls.
“Peter Gregory Obi is our presidential candidate… And some persons who know they do not stand a chance against him in the elections do not want him to be on the ballot,” he said.
His comments come amid the controversy surrounding a recent court ruling affecting the NDC’s registration, with the party maintaining that it will challenge the decision through the legal process while preparing for the 2027 elections.
The NDC has consistently maintained that the court case will not weaken its resolve to provide what it describes as a credible alternative for Nigerians ahead of the next general election.
