Publisher of Ovation Magazine and ADC chieftain, Dele Momodu, has thrown his weight behind a possible joint presidential ticket featuring Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi for the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Momodu said pairing Atiku with Obi on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform would give the opposition a strong electoral advantage, citing their previous political collaboration in 2019.
“I’d pair him (Atiku) with Peter Obi because they worked together in 2019, so they already share a similar temperament. Peter Obi came third in the last election, so you don’t have to work too hard to maintain and attract the same group of people who love him,” he said.
Momodu argued that the alliance could consolidate opposition strength ahead of 2027, especially as political realignments continue across party lines.
He also used the occasion to criticize the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming the party is increasingly uneasy despite President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to consolidate political support nationwide.

According to him, the APC is showing signs of panic over the growing possibility of a united opposition front capable of mounting a serious challenge in the next presidential race.
“They (APC) cannot believe that we will have maybe four or five major opposition leaders in the country, and some people will go and put fire in their houses so that none of them will be strong enough to stand against the leader,” he said.
“It is reality; let’s not hide behind one finger. I keep saying it, Tinubu, today, despite gathering all the governors, ministers, legislators, and what have you, you can see the obvious panic in the party,” Momodu added.
Momodu further accused the ruling party of attempting to weaken opposition forces by obstructing their activities, including denying venues for conventions and influencing political processes.
“Wherever dictatorship thrives, everybody keeps quiet. The majority of my friends are in APC; I pity them. Sometimes they just look like slaves; they grumble behind the master, but they dare not speak up. I pray for them; I wish them well because that is what they have chosen for themselves. I am telling you that Nigeria must be rescued,” he said.
“It’s insane,” he said, alleging that opposition parties are being deliberately frustrated as the race toward 2027 begins to take shape.
