20 suspects nabbed for robbery, kidnapping, cultism in Rivers

Rivers State Police Command has arrested 20 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists, recovering dangerous weapons from scenes of crime. Commissioner of Police, Mr Tunji Disu, said: “I have to appreciate my officers, they did well last year. This year, I have encouraged my them to do better and tackle criminals in the state.

“We have started raiding their hideouts and the flash point. We will soon checkmate the hoodlums. We appreciate the public for having confidence in police. The state is calm with the support of the people.

“The Police Tactical Team arrested 10 suspected armed robbers at Mile 12 in Port Hartcout.

“We were able to nab them in their hideouts and recovered some weapons and other items.

“Police operatives arrested 12 suspected kidnappers along Ogoni and Waterline axis.

“They confessed to have come from Imo and Anambra states to carry out the operation. We recovered some AK-47 rifles, pump action and money from them.

“The Anti-Cult Squad (ACS) operatives arrested 12 suspected cultists, who are members of Eiye, Greenlander and Axe confraternities. They were involved in some armed robbery and murder cases. The suspects will soon be charged to court.”
