Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum has commissioned a 60-classrooms capacity community higher Islamic school in Biu, Borno second largest town.
While commissioning the school on Wednesday, Zulum said “the Higher Islamic school system will enable students with certain level of Quranic knowledge, gained from traditional Islamiyas, to transit into western education for diploma programmes, and the diplomas can qualify them for admissions into universities and other tertiary schools.”
He said the school was initiated and run by the community members in an old structure before he granted approval for the remodelling and building of a better school structure. K
The governor also handed over a cheque of N40 million to the school owners of the sch
“The N40 million is support from the State Government for community-based managers of the school to pay salaries of staff over a period of time,” he explained.
