Bandits in Zamfara have reportedly demanded 1000 million naira to set free the 50 people recently abducted in Kaura Namoda LGA.

Residents of Banga Gidan Giji and Kogi villages in Kaura Namoda local government area shared their lamentation while discussing with reporters the unending brutality of armed bandits in their area.

Some residents from these communities have started fleeing their homes due to the deadly incident that took place earlier in the beginning of this week.

Those abducted, according to the residents, include women and children, and the bandits insisted that ransom has to be paid before the victims are released.

Two other people are said to have been killed during the attack on the communities.

Residents also said that the bandits came on motorcycles and were carrying deadly weapons.

They have come to Banga town, met some children at the entrance of their houses and abducted about 50 of them and also killed two others,” the source informed reporters in Gusau, the state capital.

“If not for the intervention of the local vigilante, the number they would have picked during that operation would have been higher than what they have so far abducted,” they said.

The bandits, according to a resident, demanded N100 million as ransom before they can release the victims.
