The trial of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello over an alleged N110.4 billion fraud continued on Tuesday at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.

Presiding judge, Justice Maryanne Anineh, adjourned the case until March 11 and 12 for the continuation of hearing.

Bello is standing trial alongside Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu on a 16-count charge bordering on alleged criminal breach of trust and money laundering.

At Tuesday’s sitting, prosecution counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, informed the court that the matter was scheduled for the continuation of cross-examination of the 10th prosecution witness, Olomotane Egoro, a compliance officer with Access Bank.

During cross-examination, defence counsel, Paul Daudu, asked the witness to examine the statement of account of Fazab Business Enterprise Limited and confirm an entry dated June 24, 2022.

The witness confirmed that the transaction was an outflow of N20 million described as payment for the supply of educational materials.

Egoro also confirmed that N86 million was transferred from Fazab Business Enterprise Limited to Ejadams Essence Limited but told the court he could not explain the reason for the payment.

He further stated that while he could recall several withdrawals reflected in the account statement, he was unable to determine the purpose of the transactions.

The witness added that most of the cash withdrawals from the account were structured to fall below N10 million.

When asked if a Suspicious Transaction Report had been filed in respect of the transactions and presented before the court, the witness responded in the negative.

Following the proceedings, Justice Anineh adjourned the matter to March 11 and 12, 2026, for continuation of the trial.
