Canadian pop star Justin Bieber is reportedly in discussions to perform at the halftime show of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, adding to what is already shaping up to be a star-studded entertainment lineup.

According to TMZ, organisers are considering adding Bieber to a bill that already includes Madonna, Shakira and South Korean music group BTS for the final scheduled for July 19 at MetLife Stadium, which is being referred to as New York New Jersey Stadium during the tournament.

If confirmed, the performance would mark another major appearance for Bieber, who attended the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Inglewood, California, alongside his wife, Hailey Bieber.

He also surprised invited guests with an intimate performance on the day of the opening ceremony.

The report comes amid renewed speculation over the singer’s return to regular live performances.

In recent months, Bieber has made a series of surprise stage appearances, including a stripped-back performance at the Grammy Awards and guest performances during the Coachella festival.

Despite rumours of a possible world tour, TMZ reported that Bieber currently prefers making selective live appearances rather than embarking on an extensive tour.

A World Cup halftime performance would align with that approach while placing him on one of the world’s biggest sporting stages.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is expected to feature the tournament’s first-ever official halftime show, with organisers aiming to deliver a spectacle comparable to the entertainment traditionally associated with major global sporting events.

Neither FIFA nor Bieber’s representatives have confirmed the report, leaving discussions over his potential appearance at the World Cup final ongoing.
