FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said he believes Spain have the quality to defeat Argentina in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but suggested that poor officiating could be the only factor that might prevent them from winning.
Speaking ahead of the final, Laporta expressed confidence in the Spanish team’s ability while stressing the importance of effective match management by the referee.
He mentioned that if the referee stands firm against intimidation, Spain would have a significant opportunity to triumph over Argentina.
Laporta further asserted that La Roja possesses a superior chance of clinching victory, which would secure them the coveted trophy.
He also stated that La Roja boasts a stronger squad compared to their Argentine rivals.

In his remarks to EL Partidazo, he said, “We have the better team. If the referee is assertive, Spain will have increased chances of winning.”
