Young African content creators have been advised to develop original identities and avoid relying solely on trending content as the continent’s digital media space continues to expand.
The advice was given at an entertainment seminar in Lagos, where discussions focused on creativity, digital media and opportunities within the growing creator economy.
Speaking at the event, Cameroonian digital creator, Phamose, urged emerging creators to focus on consistency, originality and understanding online communities.
He also encouraged content creators to treat their work as a profession, noting the increasing involvement of brands and entertainment companies with digital creators seeking to reach younger audiences.
The seminar brought together creatives, digital personalities and entertainment professionals to discuss changes in the media landscape and the growing role of online creators in shaping popular culture across Africa.
Phamose also shared his experience of building an audience through social media and discussed ways creators can expand their activities beyond individual social media platforms.
