Wife of Osun State Governor Erelu Ngozi Adeleke has extended heartfelt wishes and congratulations to all children in Osun State in commemoration of this year’s Children’s Day celebration.
Children’s Day was initiated by UNICEF and adopted by the United Nations on November 20, 1959, when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child.
It is celebrated in Nigeria on May 27 annually, dedicated to celebrating children and for adults to remember their childhood experiences.
Erelu Ngozi Adeleke who is a UN Peace Ambassador, known for her dedication to humanitarian causes and child welfare, emphasized the significance of providing a supportive and safe environment for every child to thrive.
In her goodwill message to children in Osun State and all over the world, she stated, “The event, marked with joy and festivities, highlighted the importance of nurturing and protecting the younger generation.
“Children are the bedrock of our future. It is our duty to ensure they receive the best care, education, and opportunities to reach their full potential.”
Erelu Adeleke also called for increased support for initiatives aimed at improving children’s welfare in Osun State. She highlighted the need for collaborative efforts between government, non-governmental organizations, and the community to create a conducive environment for children’s growth and development.
While praising the efforts of teachers, parents, and caregivers who play a crucial role in shaping the lives of young ones, she urged, “Let us all work together to build a brighter future for our children. By investing in their education and well-being, we are investing in the future of our state and nation.”
