Woman gives birth to Siamese twins in Ebonyi

Ebonyi-State

From Emmanuel Uzor, Abakaliki

WHAT appeared to be strange birth has thrown residents of Umuezeaka Ngbo community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State into confusion as a woman gave birth to conjoined twins otherwise known as Siamese twins.
Daily Sun gathered that the incident is first of its kind in the history of Ebonyi State even as residents of the community had allegedly deserted their homes for fear of being visited by the gods for the birth of “strange beings.”
Mrs. Agbo Josephine, a mother of four had gone into labour on December 16 and went to the maternity in her village where she had registered for her antenatal but could not deliver her baby normally.
It was gathered that when the delivery got complicated, she was referred to a hospital in Abakaliki, where Dr. Chudi Egbuonu of St. Theresa’s Hospital, handled her case.
Though the conjoined twins were delivered through cesarean operation arising from complication during delivery, they were confirmed dead.
However, Dr. Egbunonu explained that the development could be attributed to taking harmful medication including herbal drugs, especially in early pregnancy. Strange birth/download
