Residents of the Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) Satellite Towns are poised for a massive economic and infrastructural uplift, as the Minister, Nyesom Wike rolled out an ambitious road network initiative targeting underserved communities.

Speaking to journalists Friday after inspecting ongoing projects in Karu, Karshi, and Bwari-Kubwa, Wike announced the plan as a direct presidential mandate. “It’s actually a directive from the President that we develop a strategic and resilient road network across the Federal Capital Territory,” he declared, explaining the renewed focus corrects years of infrastructure imbalance to unlock economic opportunities.

A flagship project, the long-stalled Apo-Karshi Road, has been revived after Wike terminated the previous contract and re-awarded it to SCC Construction Company. “Because of the importance of that road, we felt we couldn’t wait any longer for progress. The contract was terminated and re-awarded, and they have started work in earnest,” he stated.

Wike praised the quality of reconstruction work on Karu roads by indigenous firm Abdul Val Construction Company, calling it “commendable.” He spotlighted the 16-17 kilometre Bwari-Kubwa Road as a game-changer. “It’s a critical structural development that will boost economic activity in communities between Bwari and Kubwa,” the minister said.

Both the Bwari-Kubwa Road and other key projects are slated for completion by year-end. Wike directed the National Commission for Civic Awareness to finalize landscaping in Karshi and nearby areas, stressing holistic development.

He outlined sweeping benefits: enhanced mobility, investment, rising property values, and better living standards. “People who have never experienced proper road infrastructure before are now seeing real change,” Wike noted, linking it directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
