Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction of magistrates’ court buildings at three sites across the capital, confirming that contractors are expected to deliver by the end of June 2026.
During an inspection tour, Wike described the projects as critical “presidential interventions” to ensure the judiciary has adequate space for effective justice delivery. The tour spanned Asokoro, Jabi and Garki.
In Asokoro, Wike acknowledged terrain challenges but remained optimistic. “I’ve seen the level of work, even though the topography is very bad. It’s a problem, but we’ll overcome it,” he said.

At Jabi, where the foundation for a new magistrates’ court complex was laid late last year, Wike moved on to Garki, praising the progress. “You can see how far this has gone. I’m very pleased with the quality of the job,” he remarked.
The initiatives, directed by President Bola Tinubu, also encompass 40 residential units for judges across the FCT High Court, Court of Appeal and Federal High Court, providing “definitive accommodation” and additional courtrooms to boost judicial welfare and efficiency.
Wike dismissed concerns over executive interference, stressing the government’s duty to support all arms. “The judicial arm of government is very critical in ensuring prompt administration of justice. There’s no particular reason we must pay attention to one sector and leave other critical sectors unattended to,” he added.
