The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to improving rural infrastructure with the inauguration of the 10.5-kilometre Kabusa-Ketti access road on 4 December 2024. This project aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to promote balanced development across Abuja.

Wike stated, “Mr. President has directed that we must also open up all the satellite paths, and that is why I am here today in Kabusa-Ketti.”

The Director of Press in the Minister’s office, Anthony Ogunleye, noted that the new road would improve access to farmlands and enhance security with the installation of streetlights. Wike remarked, “For the first time, you can see we are providing roads and, at the same time, providing streetlights. That is the way to improve security.”

In response to community requests displayed on banners at the event, Wike approved the establishment of a Senior Secondary School in Ketti. “Without even saying it, let me approve that Ketti will get a senior secondary school,” he announced. He assured residents that the project would receive adequate funding for timely completion, pledging its inauguration during President Tinubu’s second anniversary.

Acknowledging residents’ struggles with poor road conditions, Wike said, “We know what you face, and we feel your pain. We are here to solve your problems.” He reiterated the administration’s focus on rural development, adding, “Our efforts should not focus only on development in the city.”

Christopher Maikalangu, Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), expressed gratitude for the initiative, highlighting its potential to reduce insecurity and boost socio-economic activities. He stated, “The construction of the road will be a game changer for the huge population of Nigerians living in the area.”

Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Richard Dauda, confirmed that Tech Oil Global Concept would complete the road within six months. Wike’s proactive measures aim to transform Abuja’s infrastructure and improve residents’ quality of life.
