Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajia Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has provided optical assistance to students and teachers of Nagari Science College, Birnin Kebbi to enhance their reading ability.

Eye test was conducted on students and teachers with blurred vision to ascertain the capacity of eye glasses required by each individual to eliminate impediment to clear vision.

Hajiya Zainab Nasare decorated beneficiaries of the optics comprising students and teachers with peculiar eye glasses assisted by the wife of the deputy governor, Hajiya Maryam Tafida at the start of Free Vision Screening for Public Schools organised by her foundation, Nasara Foundation, at the school premises.

 

She informed them that opticians would go round all secondary schools in the state to examine students and teachers with eye sight problem and provide them with the necessary reading glasses.

The Governor wife commended Dr. Sadiya Saka and her team who started the eye test outreach among students and teachers of secondary schools.

She said the scope of the exercise would be widen to cover all nooks and crannies of the state to assist students and teachers to sharpen their eye sight through the use of eye glasses.

Governor’s wife explained that Nagari College was the first school where she launch the exercise and advised those provided with the eye glasses to ensure their proper care, urging teachers not to confiscate them from students but to help them on their protection against damage.

The wife of the governor urged the students to devout themselves to hard study, obey school rules and regulations, be punctual in class, remained loyal to school authorities and committed to excellent performances in examination.

She reaffirmed the commitment of her husband, Governor, Nasir Idris, to the provision of conducive learning environment as well as the necessary infrastructure, equipment and materials to schools towards attaining quality education.

Hajiya Zainab therefore solicited for prayers and goodwill from students and teachers for the success of incumbent administration in the task of good governance.

In his remark, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmad Birnin Kebbi, commended the wife of the governor for her initiative by providing succour to students in schools to enhance their comprehension of what they read and write.

Earlier speaking, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary School Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, emphasized the importance of education and literacy, advising students to take their studies seriously.

Halima further spoke about the significance of good eye sight whose importance could not be quantified, thanking the wife of the governor for her benevolence and compassion.

In a vote of thanks, the Principal of Nagari Science College, Mallam Usman Muhammad Kola, expressed appreciation to Hajiya Zainab Nasare for her motherly care to students and for selecting the school to flag off the programme on eye sight medical outreach.
