The palace of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, was the place to be during the recently held Olojo Festival, as it witnessed electrifying musical performances by top artistes.
Organised by Youth and Heritage Renaissance Festival Culture Initiative in conjunction with Aroba Groove, and kids House of Odua, the event aside having the monarchical presence of Oba Ogunwusi, was also graced by thousands of Ife residents and dignitaries from home and abroad.
Powered by Akindeji Ibitayo Baggio-led Ostrich Entertainment, the show tagged: ‘Shinamania On Buga’ had Afrojuju exponent, Sir Shina Peters and Jesse King aka Buga dishing out some of their hit songs. The show convener, Ambassador Alfred Oladotun Taylor, the Asoju Asa Oodua in the Diaspora, commended the dignitaries, noting that the show was organised “to create a friendly welcoming ground for Afro-Americans, especially those of Yoruba decent.”
However, the highlight of the event was when Taylor honoured the memories of the late musician, Pa Olayiwola Fatai Olagunju aka Rolling Dollar with a pledge to sponsor the education and musical career of his son, Jamiu.
According to him, he met and related well with Fatai Rolling Dollar during his lifetime.
“In my journey as a filmmaker, historian and broadcaster, fate brought us together and we had a wonderful time of friendship. Rolling Dollar was my friend regardless of the age difference. Anytime I beckoned on him, he was always available. The delightful time I spent around Fatai Rolling Dollar had an immense impact on my life and career. That’s why I decided to adopt his son, Jamiu Olagunju.” he explained.
Oba Ogunwusi commended Taylor’s philanthropic gesture and heaped praises on him.
