Super Eagles duo Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen yesterday discovered their opponents for the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League league phase following the draw held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Lookman’s Atletico Madrid were handed a challenging group of opponents, including German giants Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Fenerbahce, Viking, Liverpool, PSV Eindhoven, Bodo/Glimt and Stuttgart.
Meanwhile, Osimhen will spearhead Galatasaray’s attack against Barcelona, Aston Villa, Feyenoord, Stuttgart, Paris Saint-Germain, Sporting Lisbon, Lille and AEK Athens.
Following the completion of the draw, the league phase is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Last season, Lookman played a key role in Atletico Madrid’s run to the semi-finals before they were eliminated by eventual English champions Arsenal. Osimhen, meanwhile, could not lead Galatasaray beyond the round of 16 after suffering a heavy defeat to Liverpool.
The two Nigerian forwards will now face a demanding European campaign as they look to guide their respective clubs deep into the competition.
