WEST HAM is set to part company with Nuno Espirito Santo following relegation.

The Portuguese boss, 52, is holding talks with the board after the end to the club’s 14-year Premier League stay was confirmed on the final day of the season.

Under the terms of the three-year deal signed in September, the former Wolves and Tottenham manager can walk away in the event of relegation.

The club can also terminate his deal, which could have been worth up to £8million-a-year with survival bonuses, without compensation due to the same clause in the contract.

Nuno was appointed after just five games of the Premier League season, having been sacked by Nottingham Forest after three, to replace Graham Potter.

West Ham were on just three points when Potter was sacked and have ended the season on 39, the highest tally for a relegated club since Birmingham City and Blackpool in 2011.

Nuno would not discuss his future following West Ham’s final day win over Leeds United, which was not enough to prevent relegation given Tottenham’s win over Everton.

He said: “It’s not about me.

“We are in a tough place and West Ham has to go back in the Premier League. But now we have to go through this period of sadness, understanding the frustration and anger of the fans.”

Former Hammers midfielder Scott Parker is available after leaving Burnley before the end of the season and will be a candidate.
