We ‘ve appealed court’s order against Eze Aro –Palace
By Brown Chimezie
The Arochukwu Royal Palace has responded to recent reports claiming that the Eze Aro of Arochukwu Kingdom, His Eminence Eberechukwu Oji was dismissed by a High Court.
According to the reports, the judge ruled that the monarch was never properly crowned.
Mazi Patrick Asonye, Director of Media for the Royal Palace has refuted these claims.
He asserted that the reports are filled with inaccuracies and distortions, and that they have no impact on Eberechukwu Oji’s position as Eze Aro.
The Press Statement reads: “We have noted in a press release dated August 1, 2024, titled ‘Court Update on Eze Aroship,’ and signed by one Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu, who claims to be the Director of Palace Communication. No such position exists within the Arochukwu Palace.
“Normally, we would not address such misinformation, but for the sake of Umu Aro and the public, who might be misled, we provide the following clarifications:
“The judge who issued the ruling on July 31, 2024, at the High Court of Umunneochi had previously shown evidence or bias in the case of Eze Aro. This bias led to a formal complaint against him on July 8, 2024. His alleged connections to the previous Abia State administration are one example of this bias.
“Moreover, it has been established that some disgruntled politicians from Aro are behind this legal maneuver, aiming to use the Eze Aro succession dispute to revive their fading political careers at the expense of the Aro community’s interests. They will not succeed.
“Following the complaint, Chief Judge of Abia State, Hon. Justice Lilian Abai, instructed Justice Chido Nwakanma to return the case file to her office for reassignment. Notably, Justice Nwakanma had previously attempted to interfere with the coronation of His Eminence Dr. Eberechukwu Oji, by moving the ruling date from July 31, 2024, to July 19, 2024.
“Fearing that Justice Nwakanma might be engaging in further mischief, Eze Aro’s legal team petitioned the Chief Judge. Unfortunately, Justice Nwakanma ignored the Chief Judge’s directive to return the case file and issued a questionable ruling on the original date of July 31, 2024, without notifying Eze Aro’s legal team as required by law.”
