The Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University Bokkos, Prof Yohanna Daniel Izam, has said he will continue to bring to bear his wealth of experienced for the advancement and growth of the institution for global reckoning.
Prof Izam who will complete his tenure of 5 years in office disclosed this on Tuesday while commissioning the Faculty of Law building under TETFUND Special High Impact Intervention.
He noted that the project which started in 2019 during COVID-19 would accelerate academic development in the university.
Izam expressed gratitude to Governor Simon Lalong who worked assiduously to polled out the institution during it difficult period of lack of accreditation of programmes among various challenges to a fast growing institution in the country.
“Within the period under review, projects that were reactivated and completed includes Faculty of Social Sciences and Education. Projects that commenced band completed are Faculty of health sciences, agriculture, school of postgraduate studies, heath centre, procurement complex and store, remodeling of old Senate Chamber, Senate building, fencing of female hotels among others.”
He noted that theu manpower development strategy revolves largely around the effective application of TETfund grants up to Ph.D level, saying that would be encouraged by the upcoming school of Postgraduate studies.
Prof Izam applauded media for giving him the desired support to push the institution to a greater level and called for strong partnership between the media and the university for public accountability.
He said the instruction would continue to be open in terms of constructive engagement with the media with a view to attract more academic and infrastructural development.
Coordinator of Faculty of Law, Mark Danung appreciated the Vice Chancellor for initiating the constitution of the Faculty of Law building under TETfund and said it would be used judiciously to advanced education in Nigeria.
