Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Ola- Makinde yesterday admitted that there was genocide in Nigeria, but maintained also that the Federal Government has the wherewithal to tackle the security challenges in the country.

Prelate Ola-Makinde made the disclosure during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the World Evangelism Bible Church (WEBIC) in Lagos.

While expressing concern over US President Donald Trump’s threat and interference, the cleric urged the United States to support FG’s efforts at tackling the security challenges.

“There’s genocide in Nigeria, but inviting an outsider to come and assist us is not the solution.

“What Trump should do is to give us military support. Our soldiers are not well equipped. They should give us the necessary military support, rather than causing problems that cannot be solved in the country.

“If America is interested in solving Nigeria’s security challenges, let them give us military equipment rather than sending men here to cause frictions.

“Where two elephants fight, the grass would suffer. Both Christians and non-Christians would suffer from the US interference. We don’t want any military intervention in Nigeria,” he stated.

Makinde also assured that with prayers and negotiations, Nigeria can overcome the situation in the country.

Meanwhile, Founder/ General Overseer of WEBIC, Prophet Samson Ayorinde, said the event was symbolic as it reflected the grace of God in the lives of members of the church.

Prophet Ayorinde described the 30th anniversary of the church as a turn of tide into the next phase.

He said there was a need to thank God for the grace to celebrate the milestone.

Three members of the church were honoured with awards at the event. Prophet Ayorinde said they were carefully selected based on their contributions to the church.

The three awardees include Reverend Joseph Adewale Adeitan Odewole, Hon. Justice Doris Okuwobi (ret) and Pastor Peter O.Agunbiade.

He urged members to continue to trust God and build on the spiritual foundation of Christ.
