An Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sani Musa Muhammad, has revealed that  community policing strategy thwarted the recent hunger protest in his  area of jurisdiction.

The Commander  Sango Police Area Command, Ogun State, who spoke to Daily Sun after the last nationwide hunger protest, recounted efforts the command made before the commencement of the protest.

He explained that series of stakeholders meetings involving  groups, including community leaders, union leaders, traditional rulers, divisional police officers (DPOs) and other senior police officers helped in dousing the tension in the area.

“We emulated our able commissioner of Police, who engaged stakeholders and advised us to do so. I did that and the community policing strategy thwarted the protest in our area.

“The command also engaged in a 24-hours patrol in all black spots and strategic places in order to forestall any trouble.

“I also reminded the stakeholders of the 2020 #EndSARS protest where many lives were lost and property destroyed. I charged the stakeholders to go home and talk to their people not to partake in the protest and the strategy worked”

He thanked those who took part in the meetings and the community at large.

He also praised the DPOs and other police officers for their hard work.

On the activities of land grabbers, he blamed some families, who are fighting themselves and  creating  loopholes for hoodlums to move in and  start  draging  lands with genuine owners, adding that only persons with genuine documents can be bonafide owner of  land.

He advised youths to shun violence and live  in peace and harmony as that is the only way the society can progress.
