Professor Reuben Eifediyi, the Chief Medical Director of Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital (ISTH), has been applauded for his leadership in constituting the Board of Trustees (BOT) for the Admiral Augustus Akhabue Aikhomu Foundation.

The foundation, created to honour the legacy of the late Admiral Augustus Akhabue Aikhomu, former Vice President of Nigeria, aims to enhance accident and emergency healthcare services at ISTH.

Former Edo State Governor, Senator Oseriemen Osunbor, commended Professor Eifediyi for his vision, noting that establishing the foundation was a remarkable way to keep the late Admiral’s legacy alive.

Among the 27 distinguished appointees to the board is Dr. (Amb.) Victoria Ekhomu, a respected security expert and leader.
Expressing her gratitude, she stated, “I am honored to be appointed to this Board and committed to ensuring that the legacy of our late Admiral A.A. Aikhomu is preserved through this foundation for Accident & Emergency at Irrua Specialist Hospital.”

The late Admiral’s daughter, Mrs. Vinitha Nimmyel née Aikhomu who represented the mother Mrs Rebecca Aikhomu and spoke on behalf of the family became emotional as she recalled her father’s passion for quality healthcare.
She expressed deep appreciation to the CMD and BOT members for recognizing and upholding his vision.

Representing BOT Chairman Chief Dr. Leemon Ikpea, Rt. Hon. Mathew Egbedon praised the unity among Esan leaders in preserving the Admiral’s contributions.
