Vice-Chancellor, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (FUNAI), Ebonyi State, Prof. Sunday Oge Elom, has tasked the Iruka Centre to look into challenges of leadership failure in the South East.

He gave the charge when the Advisory Committee of the Centre paid visited him.

The VC noted the importance of the Centre urging them to work to enhance and promote the speaking and writing of the Igbo language among the people to avoid the language going extinct.

He also tasked them  to look at the problem of leadership failure in Igbo land.

“I am happy about the establishment of the Iruka Centre. Apart from developing ways to stop the extinction of the Igbo language, the centre should also look at the problem of leadership failure in Igbo land,” he said.

The university don further stated that the school would  be floating a new optional General Studies course geared towards the promotion of Igbo language for interested students.

Acting Director of the Centre, Dr. Ann Nwankwo said the visit was to convey their unalloyed support to the administration of the university under the leadership of Prof. Elom. Nwankwo urge the VC to remain focused  and steadfast in the discharge of his official responsibilities in order to take the university to greater heights .

The highligh of the visit was the presentation of an art work to the Vice-Chancellor  by the Advisory Committee led by the Chairman, Prof. Paul Ezeonu. The Iruka Centre was established in 2020 to study the future of Ndigbo in Nigeria and the diaspora.
