Communications strategist Larry Uwajeh has been named Rising Star in Digital, Public Sector at the Nigeria Digital Public Relations Summit, in recognition of his contributions to digital communications in the public sector.
The award marks a milestone in Uwajeh’s four-year journey to make public sector communication more engaging, accessible and responsive to the needs of citizens.
Uwajeh, who serves as Head of Communications and Promotions at the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), has been instrumental in shaping the organisation’s digital communications strategy, particularly in promoting narratives around employment, entrepreneurship and economic opportunities for Lagos residents.

His recognition came on a night when LSETF also received the Public Sector Digital Communications of the Year award, giving the organisation and its communications lead a double distinction at the summit.
The Nigeria Digital Public Relations Summit recognises excellence, innovation and impact in digital communications and public relations, with its Rising Star category highlighting emerging professionals making contributions to the industry.
Uwajeh’s recognition reflects his approach to public sector storytelling, which he said should move beyond formal announcements to communicate programmes and opportunities in ways that resonate with the people they are designed to serve.
Four years after entering the communications field with that conviction, he said the award represented more than a personal achievement, acknowledging the support of his coach, professional circle and others who believed in his work before the recognition came.
“Good work, done consistently and with intention, gets seen,” Uwajeh said.
“I am still processing it. But I know this belongs to everyone who believed in the work before the recognition came; my coach, my circle, and the people who showed up for me quietly.”
His award and LSETF’s institutional recognition highlight the growing role of digital communications in how public institutions present their programmes, engage citizens and communicate economic opportunities.
For Uwajeh, the recognition marks a significant point in a journey built on consistency and intentional storytelling, with the communications strategist indicating that he considers it the beginning of a larger professional journey.
