United States Vice President JD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, have welcomed a baby boy, with the American leader confirming that both mother and child are in good health.
Vance announced the birth on Sunday in a statement, revealing that the couple had named their newborn son Alec Neel Vance. He also expressed gratitude to the medical personnel who oversaw the delivery.
“We are excited to announce that our baby boy, Alec Neel Vance, was born this morning,” Vance said.
“Usha and the baby are happy and healthy, and our kids are overjoyed to meet their little brother.”
The Vice President reserved special appreciation for the military medical teams at Walter Reed Medical Centre and the White House Medical Unit, describing their care and professionalism as invaluable to his family.
“The incredible military doctors and staff members of Walter Reed Medical Centre and the White House Medical Unit have been a blessing. We are deeply thankful for all they have done for our family,” he added.
The newborn becomes the fourth child of the Vances, who have been married since 2014. The couple previously welcomed three children before the arrival of Alec.
Vance rose to national prominence following the publication of his bestselling memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, before entering politics and later securing election as Vice President alongside President Donald Trump.
Since assuming office, the 41-year-old has emerged as one of the administration’s most prominent figures, balancing the demands of public office with his role as a husband and father.
News of the birth prompted an outpouring of congratulatory messages from political allies, supporters and public officials, many of whom wished the Vice President, his wife and their growing family good health and happiness.
