…Fashola commends INEC

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has again sued for Peaceful coexistence among all tribes in the state to ensure a violence-free election.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made the call shortly after casting his vote at exactly 10:18 am, at Eiyekole Polling Unit 006, ward E3 within St. Stephen Primary School Adeniji Adele Road, Lagos Island.
The governor arrived the poll unit alongside his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu at 10:12, Sanwo-Olu after exercising his franchise, while speaking with journalists, said the process was not meant to be violent one.
He noted that the beauty of democracy is to have diverse views and choices, hence the need for everyone to vote for candidates of their choice in the overall interest of peace and progress in the state.
The governor appealed to youths to shun unruly protest and intimidation, urged members of the public to report any security threat in their area to the nearest police station.
“We have just voted this morning. I’m happy with the turn out of voters. As you can see that INEC came out on time.
“I think it is time for us as people to see this process as not meant to be a process for violence. This contest is about peace, progress and prosperity of our state and the country as a whole.
“I advise everyone to conduct themselves as family”, the governor said.
Commenting on a viral video on social media over alleged vote suppression, the governor said, he would not comment on it as it was unverifiable.
“We have seen a disturbing video which is not verifiable. I can’t comment on that but so far this election has been calm.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, has described the exercise as hitch-free and faster compared to the Presidential and National Assembly election held a few weeks ago.
Fashola who was a former governor of the state, arrived at his Polling Unit 002, at State Junior Grammar School, Onitolo, off Eric Moore in Surulere LGA at exactly 11.30 am and exercised his franchise in less than ten minutes.
Answering questions from journalist, the minister said it was still too early to air his view on turn out of voters described the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC as an institution that is conducting elections across the country with very large and massive territories hence the need to make a healthy critic and inspire them to do better.
