• PDP accuses tribunal chair of bias

From Lateef Dada, Osogbo

There has been unrest in Osogbo and some parts of Osun State over the judgment nullifying Governor Ademola Adeleke’s election by the election petition tribunal.

There was a gunshot at Old garage, Oja-Oba, Ogo-Oluwa Osogbo, Ile-Ife, and Ilesa that caused fear and apprehension shortly after the judgment.

Some markets were shut while shops were closed following the pandemonium that broke out in reaction to the judgment.

Sunday Sun observed that some thugs barricaded major roads like Ogo-Oluwa, Igbona market, and Oja-Oba, preventing vehicles from moving in an apparent protest against the judgment.

Intra-city drivers immediately stopped work due to harassment by the political thugs.

Ede, the hometown of Governor Adeleke, also witnessed protest as indigenes of the town vowed to defend the mandate given to their son.

The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Akoda Ede branch, was said to have declared a break of service, hence the reason there were no transportation activities at the park.

Tribunal chairman used as a tool against the new Electoral Act – PDP

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Osun Governorship Tribunal Chairman, Mr. Tertsea Kume of bias, sabotage, and deliberate undermining of the new electoral act, vowing to report the judge to judicial disciplinary bodies.

The state Caretaker Chairman, Dr. Adekunle Akindele, in a statement made available to Sunday Sun, alleged that the judgment was way billed by the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that the judge abandoned legal arguments and submissions to dwell on the trivial as the foundation for his pronouncement.

The PDP accused the judge of serving as the mouthpiece of the petitioners during the hearing and of personal attacks on the governor in the ruling, citing the ridiculous reference to Buga dance in the judgment.

“For us as a party, we understand the desperation of those behind the jankara judgment. We understand the trap they tried to set against the BVAS innovation in our electoral system. We understand the desperation goes beyond the Osun election or Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke.

“The evil plot is ultimately against the coming general election where in their usual fraudulent habit, millions of voter cards have either been cloned, registered with ghost names, and are being made ready to be deployed especially for the presidential election, in which they could smell their total rejection far ahead of time.

“In this wise and their fraudulent anticipation, the use of BVAS machine must be discredited and rendered impotent ahead of their planned invasion of the electoral field with their fraudulent antics,” he added.
