A student of the UNIJOS (University of Jos), John Arum Azi, has been freed after spending 10 days in captivity following his abduction on the Jos–Zaria road.
Azi, who studies early childhood education, was kidnapped while travelling from Jos in Plateau State to Zaria in Kaduna State, a route increasingly troubled by cases of abduction.
His family confirmed that negotiations with the kidnappers led to a ransom payment of ₦6 million, which was reportedly raised through contributions from relatives and concerned members of the public.

Tension around the case intensified after a video surfaced online showing the student being assaulted by his captors while pleading for help, sparking public concern and calls for urgent action.
His release was eventually confirmed on Wednesday when his family shared a video showing him back home and reunited with relatives after days of uncertainty.
