UniCloud Africa (UCA) has entered into partnership with Open Access Data Centres (OADC) to accelerate digital transformation and strengthen data sovereignty across the African continent.

The collaboration will see UniCloud Africa deploy its enterprise-grade sovereign cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure within OADC’s carrier-neutral data centre facilities located in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and South Africa.

The move is expected to provide governments and businesses with localised cloud solutions that guarantee data residency, regulatory compliance and improved service delivery.

Speaking on the partnership, Chief Executive Officer of UniCloud Africa, Dr. Krish Ranganath, said the initiative is aimed at ensuring that African data is stored and processed within the continent.

According to him, hosting sovereign infrastructure in OADC’s facilities will deliver low-latency services, local currency billing and secure, in-country data management tailored to Africa’s unique needs.

He noted that the partnership aligns with UniCloud Africa’s “One Cloud, One Africa” vision, designed to reduce reliance on offshore cloud providers and address challenges such as latency and compliance risks.

Under the arrangement, OADC’s Tier III-certified infrastructure will provide a high-performance environment for mission-critical workloads, backed by guaranteed uptime.

The partnership will leverage OADC’s presence across key markets, including Lagos in Nigeria, Kinshasa in the DRC and multiple locations in South Africa, to build a resilient digital backbone for enterprises and public institutions.

In Nigeria, the collaboration is expected to support the rapidly growing fintech and enterprise ecosystem, while in the DRC it will boost local cloud capacity and digital adoption. South Africa will serve as a hub for distributed and disaster recovery solutions.

Chief Executive Officer of OADC, Dr. Ayotunde Coker, said fully localised cloud infrastructure is essential for Africa’s economic growth and digital future.
