Minister of Works, David Umahi, has affirmed that all federal road projects under his ministry are fully transparent and subject to independent scrutiny by anti-corruption agencies.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday while receiving the “Personality of the Year” award from Aljazirah Newspaper, Umahi said the ministry formally invited the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to verify project execution across the country.
Umahi explained that ICPC has already conducted part of its review, while EFCC is expected to begin after the Sallah break. “There is nothing we do in the Ministry of Works that we cannot defend,” he said, noting that the ministry’s costing system allows for a full breakdown of materials, labour, and equipment.

The minister highlighted the ongoing shift from asphalt to concrete roads, insisting the change serves public interest by producing longer-lasting infrastructure.
“Whatever road we are building now, mostly on concrete, is going to last 100 years without maintenance,” he added.
Williams Bassey, CEO of the awarding platform, praised Umahi for driving infrastructure transformation under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Investigations into ministry operations found no evidence of corruption, Bassey noted, confirming Umahi’s record of accountability and transparent leadership.
