An APC political stalwart in Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State Durojaiye Nurudeen Bolaji has abandoned his residence over attacks by hoodlums.

Durojaiye,  a staunch supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu since the days of Alliance for Democracy (AD),a grassroots mobilizer, who assiduously worked for  Tinubu in the 2023 general election.

He printed posters, banners, souvenirs and financially supported Tinubu’s campaign in his community, with the promise that most of the youths would benefit once the area delivered electoral votes in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

There were indications that Durojaiye’s financial support and campaigns polarized the community as many youths in the opposition party, joined forces with him to ensure victory in their area, and with the promise that, once Tinubu wins the general election, most of the youths would be properly engaged in productive activities that would better their lives and the people.

Relationship spiraled downwards after their candidate, Bola Tinubu was sworn in as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Expectations grew and Nigerians were disappointed that the economy has continued to slide downwards after President Tinubu took over.

Unfortunately, Durojaiye who was one of the leading lights in his area could not attend to the needs of restive youths who frequently flocked around his house for hand-outs.

However, his house has been attacked twice within a period of five weeks by hoodlums suspected to be his political supporters who felt betrayed by the party.

The grassroots’ politician, who often donated foodstuffs and cash gifts to youths in the area, has been indisposed since the ugly development.  He is said to be holed up in the United Kingdom where he had travelled for vacation.

Daily Sun checks reveal that Durojaiye who was billed to return to the country on January 26, 2024 is now in panic mode, for fear of being attacked by people in the community. He has since delayed his return out of fear for his life and that of his family.

According to a family source who craved anonymity,  “Durojaiye has received several threat messages and calls from unknown persons, who believed he and his party did not fulfill their campaign promises, while he travelled for vacation.

“Threat calls and reports of unknown persons around his property have forced  Durojaiye and his family to delay their return to Nigeria for fear of kidnap or being attacked by unknown persons, especially after two separate incidents  of attack on his personal property in his Ifako-Ijaiye locality”.

However, there are indications that the politician has informed the Nigerian Police Force, so as to guarantee his safety upon his return into the country, so that he can take care of his businesses.
