Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte says he hit “rock bottom” after his World Cup was ended by a horrific knee injury.
The Uruguayan, 25, is set to be out of action for the rest of the year with an anterior cruciate ligament problem.
Ugarte was spotted fighting back tears as he was stretchered off during his country’s group stage defeat to Spain last week.
And the former Paris Saint-Germain man has released a worrying statement on social media, conceding he is facing a long road to recovery.
Ugarte, who exited the World Cup in a wheelchair, said: “A few days have passed since everything happened.
