From Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri
Former governor of Imo State, Achike Udenwa, has lamented that his 1998 political structure, ‘Redemption’, has not fulfilled its envisioned goals.
Speaking yesterday during a get-together of the group, which he hosted in Owerri, Udenwa noted that despite the group’s potential, councillors who could have become governors, speakers, or senators were yet to reach those heights.
But he assured members of the group that it was not yet over, while urging members to stay focused and determined.
The ex-governor, who emphasised collective vision of the group, said: “Whatever you want out of Redemption is what it will be; it’s not about me, but us.”
Udenwa commended the group’s growth from underdogs to a force in state politics. He also announced his retirement from active politics and encouraged young members to be purposeful, attributing his administration’s success to participatory democracy principles.
