Real Madrid CF crushed 10-man Manchester City FC 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, sealing a 5-1 aggregate win and sending the Premier League side out of the Champions League for the fourth time in five seasons.
City’s hopes were dashed early when captain Bernardo Silva handled the ball on the line and was shown a red card, allowing Vinicius Junior to convert the resulting penalty and effectively end the contest.
Erling Haaland pulled one back before half-time, but Vinicius struck again in stoppage time to seal Madrid’s victory.
