The Northern Nigeria Christian Youth Association (NNCYA) has hailed President Bola Tinubu, National Security Adviser (NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), following what it described as U.S. President Donald Trump’s commendation of Nigeria’s efforts in combating terrorism and protecting vulnerable Christian communities.
The group said the international recognition reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling insecurity and restoring peace, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Bason Sunday, the association said Trump’s acknowledgement validates the Tinubu administration’s determination to strengthen national security and protect lives and property.
The group also praised Ribadu for providing strategic intelligence coordination, proactive conflict resolution and strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
According to the statement, the association welcomed Trump’s acknowledgement of the U.S.-Nigeria 2026 Defence Cooperation Roadmap, the deployment of U.S. Special Operations Forces to support the Nigerian military, and joint counter-terrorism operations that reportedly led to the neutralisation of top ISIS leaders in the Lake Chad region.
“We salute the National Security Adviser for his strategic intelligence direction, proactive conflict resolution and for spearheading the robust U.S.-Nigeria Joint Working Group. His efforts have revitalised the nation’s security architecture, disrupted terror networks and restored confidence in the country’s security institutions,” the statement said.
The association equally commended Defence Minister Gen. Musa, describing his leadership as courageous, inclusive and result-oriented.
It noted that his understanding of the security challenges in Northern Nigeria and commitment to protecting all communities had strengthened military operations against terrorists and other criminal elements.
The group urged Nigerians, irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation, to remain united and support ongoing efforts to restore peace across the country.
It added that the reported commendation by Trump was an indication that the Tinubu administration was taking decisive steps to improve security, particularly for Christian communities in the North that had borne the brunt of violent attacks.
The association also called on the international community to deepen defence cooperation, intelligence sharing and socio-economic partnerships with Nigeria to strengthen the fight against terrorism and insecurity across West Africa.
