Troops of Operation Udo Ka have neutralised an unspecified number of IPOB/ESN fighters along the Ekeututu–Ihiteunansa Road in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

The troops also recovered pump action rifles, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), IEDs making devices and charms.

The Nigerian Army disclosed this in a statement shared on its verified Facebook page on Monday night.

According to the statement, the rigorous fighting patrol was part of ongoing clearance operations targeting remnants of IPOB elements in the South East geopolitical zone.

“During the operation, the troops encountered suspected IPOB/ESN members.

“In the ensuing engagement, several of the suspected criminals were neutralised.

“Captured items included pump-action guns, improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and IED-making materials, as well as charms,” the statement reads in part.

The Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede was quoted as commending the troops for their gallantry and urging them to sustain their efforts in eliminating criminal elements from their hideouts.

“He also reassured the peace-loving people of the South East to carry on with their daily activities without fear,” the statement further reads.
