Orowole Kolapoz, also known as Kola Onifoto, a well-known photographer and motorcyclist from Nigeria, passed away after a motorcycle accident in Lagos.
According to reports, the 32-year-old brand influencer and travel enthusiast was involved in the collision on Sunday while riding a motorbike alone outside of Lagos for the first time.
Kola had posted on his official Facebook page a few hours before the accident that he was riding his bike to Akure.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has travelled by bicycle to every state in this nation, Africa, and the rest of the world—especially women. On Sunday, March 1, 2026, he wrote, “My eye see wheeen.”
Friends later revealed online that he was involved in the collision and was first taken to the Federal Road Safety Corps emergency unit at 7UP, Ojota.
After that, Kola Onifoto was moved to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Idi-Araba, where supporters kept posting prayers on social media for his recovery.
Sadly, early on Monday, March 2, Kola passed away from his wounds.

Friends, coworkers, and followers responded emotionally to the news of his passing with an abundance of tributes. Georgiana Onyinye, a Facebook user, wrote, “We prayed, we cried, and hoped to hear better news, but unfortunately, death had other plans. Kola fought so hard. You tried to stay alive, but death had other plans. You will be greatly remembered. Rest easy, K.”
The exact cause of the accident is yet unclear. Kola shared a picture of himself posing next to his new motorbike in January to commemorate realising his dream of becoming a biker.
While responding to the news of his loss on Facebook, Victoria Ayagwu also expressed her sorrow.
“All the posts was just me keeping my hopes up and hoping on miracle..oooooooo because I heard from his closest friend yesterday night that he’s gone, he died on the spot. I don’t know why we are here at all. Kola spoilt my night and my whole day,” she wrote.
“Hot tears rolled down my cheeks. Haven’t had any encounter with him, but the way he fights for people drew me closer to his page. Goodnight Mr Kola,” Emmanuel Collins wrote.
Additionally, Naomi Balogun, who stated that she had only recently been interested in his article, wrote: “I have never felt so bad about a stranger’s death like I felt for you. I hope it’s not true. I just started having an interest in your write-ups. This breaks my heart. I’m not a close relation, and I am already physically down, how much more people close to you. Oh! What is life?”
Oluwadamilola Jayeola, the Federal Road Safety Corps’ Lagos Sector Command spokesperson, did not answer calls placed to her phone number. At the time this report was submitted, she had not responded to a text message that was sent to her.
